A 30C is a 30 band with a C cup: an underbust of about 25 to 26 inches, and a bust two to three inches bigger. More people mis-file themselves around this size than almost any other, because the difference sits near a boundary and most people round their measurements before checking.
Not sure it is your size? The bra size calculator turns two measurements into an answer, sister sizes included.
What a 30C actually measures
The band is your underbust rounded up to an even number, plus four inches. The letter is the bust-minus-band difference, starting at A for zero and climbing one letter per inch.
| Inches | Centimetres | |
|---|---|---|
| Underbust | 25 to 26 | 64 to 66 |
| Bust | 32 to 33 | 81 to 84 |
| Difference | 2 to 3 | 5 to 8 |
On UK and US charts, which use the underbust itself as the band, the same body is a 26E and a US 26DDD; EU charts call it a 55F. The bra size converter lines up all four systems.
30B or 30C: how the boundary call goes
A B cup is a one-to-two inch difference and a C is two to three, so a tape that reads exactly two inches sits on the line. The rule is that boundaries resolve upward: a measured two-inch difference is a C, not a B.
The reason is practical rather than ceremonial. A cup slightly too roomy settles against the body and does no harm. A cup slightly too small cuts across the breast and shows through clothing, so when the tape offers you two answers, the system takes the roomier one. If you have been wearing 30B and the top of the cup cuts in, measure again and watch where the difference lands; the odds are good you were a boundary case all along.
Sister sizes when 30C is close but wrong
Move the band one step and the letter the opposite way, and the cup volume stays roughly the same:
32B ← 30C → 28D
Only one of those is a realistic purchase. 32B is a common, widely stocked size, ours included. 28D is real arithmetic on a band Indian retail barely makes. So in practice:
- Band digs in, cup fits: go up to 32B. It is everywhere.
- Band rides up, cup fits: the maths says 28D; the shops mostly say no. Try the fit fixes below before hunting for it.
- Band comfortable, cup spilling: stay on 30 and go up to 30D.
The mechanics of these swaps are covered in the sister sizes guide. Staying on the band and unsure only of the letter is a different question, answered letter by letter in the 30 bra size guide.
Band first, letter second
A 30 band should feel snug and sit level all the way round, with room for two flat fingers underneath and no more. If the band passes that test and the cup is wrong, change the letter. If the band fails, no letter change will rescue it, because the band does most of a bra's actual work.
This ordering matters at 30C specifically because its easy sister lives band-up: it is tempting to drift to 32B for the wider choice of styles. Do it because the band measurement says so, not because the rail is longer there.
How a 30C should feel when it fits
The band sits level all the way round, parallel to the floor at the back, and stays put when you raise both arms. The cup edge lies flush against the breast with no gap at the top and no spill at the sides. The centre panel between the cups touches the sternum. Straps stay on the shoulders without carrying weight: slide them off and the cups should barely move, because on a narrow band like a 30 the band is doing nearly everything.
Two failures look similar here and are not. A cup that wrinkles at the top is too big; a bust that overflows toward the underarm means too small. On a boundary size, both usually mean the letter was rounded the wrong way rather than the band mismeasured, which is why the tape beats the fitting-room guess.
Outfits that remove the band entirely
For backless and deep-cut outfits, our strapless adhesive bra is made in 30C, so the size you calculate is a size you can actually buy: no band, no straps, cups that hold by adhering to clean dry skin.
The short version
A 30C fits a 25-to-26 inch underbust with a bust two to three inches larger, and a measured difference of exactly two inches is a C, because boundaries resolve upward. Its buyable sister is 32B; its theoretical one is 28D. Check the band with the two-finger test before touching the letter, and use the bra size chart for India for the full method.
