G and H are cup letters past the end of most Indian bra charts. Ours runs A to F. Carry the same scale on at one letter per inch and a G cup is a bust six to seven inches bigger than the band, and an H is seven to eight. That is the Indian reading. On an American label a G is a much smaller step, which is where most of the confusion about these two letters comes from.
What do G and H mean on an Indian chart?
On Indian sizing the band is your underbust rounded up to an even number plus four, and the cup is the bust minus the band, one letter per inch from A.
| Bust minus band | In cm | Cup |
|---|---|---|
| 3 to 4 inches | 8 to 10 | D |
| 4 to 5 inches | 10 to 13 | E |
| 5 to 6 inches | 13 to 15 | F |
| 6 to 7 inches | 15 to 18 | G |
| 7 to 8 inches | 18 to 20 | H |
Our bra size calculator names letters up to F. If your difference is six inches or more it will show an F, and you should read that as F or above and count the extra inches yourself from the table.
One more wrinkle. Labels that print DD after D push every later letter along by one, so a G on that kind of label is the seven to eight inch step. E and F cup sizes covers the two letters before these, including where DD fits.
G and H measurements, bands 30 to 40
| Size | Underbust (inches) | Underbust (cm) | Bust (inches) | Bust (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30G | 25 to 26 | 64 to 66 | 36 to 37 | 91 to 94 |
| 32G | 27 to 28 | 69 to 71 | 38 to 39 | 97 to 99 |
| 34G | 29 to 30 | 74 to 76 | 40 to 41 | 102 to 104 |
| 36G | 31 to 32 | 79 to 81 | 42 to 43 | 107 to 109 |
| 38G | 33 to 34 | 84 to 86 | 44 to 45 | 112 to 114 |
| 40G | 35 to 36 | 89 to 91 | 46 to 47 | 117 to 119 |
| 30H | 25 to 26 | 64 to 66 | 37 to 38 | 94 to 97 |
| 32H | 27 to 28 | 69 to 71 | 39 to 40 | 99 to 102 |
| 34H | 29 to 30 | 74 to 76 | 41 to 42 | 104 to 107 |
| 36H | 31 to 32 | 79 to 81 | 43 to 44 | 109 to 112 |
| 38H | 33 to 34 | 84 to 86 | 45 to 46 | 114 to 117 |

What does a G or H mean on a US, UK or EU label?
Something different each time. Those systems use a smaller band number for the same ribcage, so the same bust sits further from the band and the letters start higher. Then each system names its later letters in its own way.
| On the label | Indian size on our chart |
|---|---|
| US 34G | 38D |
| US 34H | 38E |
| UK 34G | 38F |
| UK 34H | past F, two steps beyond |
| EU 75G | 38D |
| EU 75H | 38E |
So an American or European G is an Indian D, which is a size you can find in most shops. A British G is an Indian F. Only the British H lands past the end of the chart.
If you read about a G cup on a foreign website, or bought one abroad, check which system it was before assuming you need a rare size here. To tell them apart, look at the brand's chart: if a 29 to 30 inch underbust is listed as a 34 band, it is Indian sizing, and if it is listed as a 30, it is UK or US. The bra size converter translates letter by letter.
Is a G cup big?
The letter cannot answer that, because it measures a gap against its own band. A 30G has a 36 to 37 inch bust. A 40G has a 46 to 47 inch bust. Those two bras have very little in common. What a D cup means makes the same point lower down the scale.
What can be said is that on Indian sizing a G or an H is a full bust on any band, and that the band will be doing most of the work of holding it. That makes the band fit more important than the letter. A band that rides up at the back is too big, whatever the cups are doing.
Can you buy G and H cups in India?
Rarely off the shelf. Most Indian rails end at a D cup, and the larger letters are left to a few full-bust ranges and imports.
Sister sizes do not help much this far out. Going up one band and down one letter keeps the cup volume about the same, so a 34G's sister is a 36F and a 34H's is a 36G. Both are as hard to find as the size you started with. To reach a stocked D you would have to go up three or four bands, and a band that loose holds nothing up. Bra sister sizes explains why the swap only works one step at a time.
The practical route is a brand that cuts for a full bust, bought in your measured band. If the measurement itself surprised you, take it again. A bust measured over a padded bra reads high, and that alone can add a letter.
What from our range works at G and H?
The strapless adhesive bra is sized from 30A to 40D on Indian sizing. That covers most US or EU G sizes, which are a D here, and it does not cover an Indian G or H.
The pieces sized by cup letter top out at a D-plus option: D-D++ in the butterfly stick-on bra and Large in the fabric uplift cups. At G and H they can take some weight off for a few hours under an outfit. They are not a replacement for a band.
Boob tape is the piece that scales, since you cut as much as the job needs and spread the load over a wide area of skin. Boob tape for a heavy bust shows the placements that carry weight. For coverage alone, the 13 cm reusable nipple covers are the largest size.
If you are also on a wide band, 42 and 44 bra sizes covers what changes past a 40.
The short version
On an Indian chart carried past F, a G cup is a bust six to seven inches bigger than the band and an H is seven to eight. A 34G is a 29 to 30 inch underbust with a 40 to 41 inch bust. On a US or EU label a G is only an Indian D, and a UK G is an Indian F, so check the system before hunting for a rare size. Indian shops seldom stock past D and sister sizes do not bridge the gap, so buy from a full-bust range in your measured band. Tape is the piece of ours that scales.
