A 34B is a 34 band with a B cup, and it sits close enough to several other sizes that people routinely end up in the wrong one.
Not measured yet? The bra size calculator does the arithmetic, sister sizes included.
What size is a 34B bra?
Indian sizing takes your underbust, rounds it up to an even number, and adds four. That total is the band. So a 34 band is built for someone measuring about 29 to 30 inches underneath, not 34.
The letter is the difference between your bust and your band. B means two inches.
| Inches | Centimetres | |
|---|---|---|
| Underbust | 29 to 30 | 74 to 76 |
| Bust | about 36 | about 91 |
| Difference | 2 | 5 |
Is 34B or 32C bigger?
This is the comparison that trips people up, and the honest answer is that they hold a similar amount. They are sister sizes.
A 32C has a smaller band and a bigger cup letter. A 34B has a bigger band and a smaller letter. The cup volume works out close to the same, because a cup is measured against its own band: the C on a 32 and the B on a 34 land in roughly the same place.
What differs is where the support comes from. The 32 band is tighter, which is usually the better choice, because a bra is held up by its band rather than its straps. If your 34B rides up your back during the day, the 32C is the size to try, and you will not lose cup room by switching.
Is 34B big or small?
It sits in the middle of what Indian brands stock, which is roughly 30 to 44 in the band and A to D in the cup.
Cup letters are not comparable between bands. A B on a 34 holds more than a B on a 30 and less than a B on a 40, because each letter is a difference measured against its own band. Comparing your letter to someone else's says nothing useful unless you are both on the same band.
Is 34B big for a 15 year old?
There is no standard size for an age. Bodies vary a lot and keep changing for years, so a size describes measurements and nothing more.
The questions worth asking about any bra are whether the band sits level all the way round, and whether the cup contains everything without gaping or cutting in. Those have answers. Whether a number is normal does not, because there is nothing to measure it against.
Sister sizes when 34B is nearly right
Move the band one step, move the letter the opposite way:
36A ← 34B → 32C
All three hold a similar volume and differ in band tightness.
The practical rules:
- Band rides up your back, cup fits: go down to 32C
- Band comfortable, spilling over the top: stay on 34 and go up to 34C
- Band digs in, cup fits: go up to 36A
A cup that seems too small is often a band that is too loose, letting everything sit lower than the cup was cut for. Try the sister size before assuming the cup is the problem.
When the outfit leaves nowhere for a band
A 34B is only useful while there is somewhere to put the bra. Backless blouses, halter necks, deep V necklines and low-draped sarees all remove the band, the straps, or both.
What works instead:
- A strapless adhesive bra in your cup size. It adheres to skin and holds its shape with no band and no straps, and it is made in 34B.
- Lift tape for necklines that a moulded cup cannot follow, since you place it yourself.
If you only need coverage rather than shape, nipple covers are simpler and less to think about.
The short version
A 34B fits an underbust of 29 to 30 inches with a bust about two inches larger. Its closest neighbour is 32C, which holds a similar cup on a tighter and usually better-supporting band. If your band rides up, that swap is the first thing to try.
